Should I Run Google or Meta/TikTok Ads?

Choosing whether to use Meta/TikTok or Google as your primary ads channel comes down to this:

Are you looking to create demand, or capture demand?

Meta/TikTok is for creating demand. Google is for capturing demand.

(In truth, both can do both. But fundamentally, this is how I view things.)

When to use Google Ads

If your product is something that people already know about, and are already searching for, Google is the smartest place to put your ad spend. For it is the tool people use when they know what they want, and already have an intention to buy.

They want something, they search, your product shows up, they buy. This is capturing demand.

When to use Meta/TikTok Ads

If your product is something that people don't know about, and you must create your own demand for that product through demonstration or education, Meta/TikTok is the best place for your ad spend.

They don't have a need, they see your ad and are interested, they visit your site, they buy. This is creating demand.
